PLASU, BOKKOS GOVERNING COUNCIL DIRECTS LECTURERS TO RESUME ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES THURSDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER, 2022

The Management of Plateau State University, PLASU, Bokkos, has declared a 'no-work, no-pay’ policy on its striking  workers.

This decision of the PLASU, Bokkos Management followed the directive by the PLASU Governing Council at the end of its 50th meeting held at the Council Chamber, PLASU Bokkos, Campus, on 7th September, 2022

The Memo signed in Jos, Friday, 9th September, 2022,  by the Registrar of the University, Mr Yakubu Ayuba, stated that the issues that led to the declaration of  the strike action on 21st December, 2021, by both the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU) of the university have been resolved.

He explained that the Government signed a Memorandum of Agreement MoA with the ASUU on 9th August, 2022, saying that the eight issues that led to the declaration of strike by SSANU have also been resolved.

Mr. Ayuba noted that the ongoing strike by the ASUU, PLASU Bokkos Chapter was just in solidarity with its national body, at the detriment of the University community.

”In view of this, the State Government and the PLASU, Bokkos Governing Council have directed the implementation of `no-work, no- pay’’ policy for members of the two unions who fail to resume work on Thursday, 8th September, 2022, as directed.

”Consequent upon this, the Management of the PLASU, Bokkos, acting on the decision of the 50th meeting of the Governing Council held on 7th September, 2022, hereby requests members of the ASUU and e SSANU to resume at their duty posts in the university on Thursday, 8th September, 2022.

”Management will be paying the salaries to only the workers who resume  duties and subsequently, non-compliance with the directive may attract further administrative measures including declaration of redundancy for those considered to have voluntarily withdrawn their services
