According to Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, the Federal Government has done everything possible to put a stop to the current Academic Staff Union of Universities strike (ASUU).

At a current gathering of the provosts and vice chancellors of federal universities at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Abuja, he made this statement to reporters.

The meeting has entered a closed-door session as of the time of reporting this report, and the minister will inform reporters after the meeting.

In all we've been doing, Adamu added, "Mr. President Muhammadu Buhari's directive has been our guidance. He has indicated that while the unions should be encouraged to go back to work, government should not repeat the past mistakes of accepting to sign an agreement.

"Government shouldn't sow the seeds of future disruptions under the pretense of addressing present problems.

"We did the best we could under the circumstances. We interacted with the Unions following rounds of difficult talks with all government departments and inter-ministerial discussions.
